Objective: Upon completion of this lesson, students should be able to:
Lesson Questions:
Lesson Notes: 2.2 Sum/Diff, Power, Trig Rules,
2.3 Product and Quotient Rules
Lesson Videos: 2.2 Sum/Diff, Power, Trig
2.3 Product and Quotient Rules
Homework Practice: p. 115# 3-55 odd, 58-61, 63, 65
p. 126# 1-33 odd, 39-53 odd, 63-67 odd, 81
Standards Met: In compliance with derivative studies based on the AP Collegeboard AP Calculus AB Syllabus.
Objective: Upon completion of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Use basic constant, power, sum/diff, product, quotient, and trig properties to find derivative functions
- Find equations and slopes of tangent lines using derivative properties
- Apply the properties to generic functions such as f(x) or g(x) (i.e. find the derivative of h(x) = f(x)g(x))
Lesson Questions:
- What is the purpose of having these derivative properties?
- What is the difference between using the constant multiple rule or the product rule?
- Do you have to use the quotient rule if there is a fraction in the problem?
